Did you know it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird? A mockingbird is a harmless bird that symbolizes innocence and harmlessness, it sings beautifully without disrupting its surroundings; so killing one is considered a sin. Two characters are closely comparable to this bird: Tom Robinson, an innocent black man who was accused of a crime, and Boo Radley, a mistreated adult who lives unnoticed and doesn’t bother anyone. To start with, Tom Robinson is assumed to be guilty of raping a white girl named Mayella. Since the town is mostly white people who don’t think of black people as anything more than people who do their housework and chores for them. Just like killing a mockingbird, it is a sin to kill an innocent person. Next, Boo Radley never lived in the best household growing up and many people spread rumors about him but nobody ever knew him well enough to say otherwise. Other people judged him by these rumors, Boo is a kind and thoughtful person who puts others first. But despite how hes been treated by his own family, he always treats people with kindness and respect. He never intended to hurt or bother anyone, just like a mockingbird. Boo is never seen, he’s quiet so you wouldn’t know he existed unless someone had told you about him. There were many incidents where Boo helped his neighbors, including one where he saved their lives which without a doubt would’ve taken quite a bit of courage. Lastly, Tom Robinson and Boo Radley have similar characteristics to each other and are mockingbirds in many ways. They both want to help other people without bothering anyone, even though they aren’t treated the best and face adversity. They also both have tons of courage, Tom is brave to help Mayella even if it ended up costing him his own life; he was so kind that he felt sorry for
