The five elements used are line, shape, colour, texture and tone. The image on the left is The Old Church at Nuenen which was one of van Gogh’s earlier paintings. It had more somber and dark colors where it used more of a literal representation with the colors and the lighting instead of how The Church at Auvers. Van Gogh eventually became an impressionist so the painting on the right is influenced more by that time period in art with the wavy distorted lines to make the church appear to look like it’s melting and the many bright colors use a scheme to have viewers and critics to move their eyes around the painting with more excitement and without have to follow along a boring horizon. In Van Gogh’s paintings Wheat Field with Cypress and Cypress are similar and yet two different paintings. One similarity of these two paintings are that they both have the same texture. The texture that they both have to me at least almost like a fluffy look to them or wavy droplets of paint in a curvy lines in different directions that almost give a flowy feel to them. Also, in both of them the shape that I find repeated in the images is a circular pattern almost that gives them a great texture. One difference in the two paintings is that in the Cypress the focal point is the tree that draws the most attention to your eye.
I like that you chose Van Gogh for one of your especially since you probably have a lot of back round knowledge about him due to our previous weeks. I also like the ideas of the landscapes because they truly are works of art. The stillness and serenity thtat are always consistent in landscapes. Both were paintings are beautiful, but they're also in ways distorted. I mean this by the lack of precise smooth strokes that made landscapes so decisive.

Searching for a painting that really spoke to me was hard, I was searching for quite a while, until I found Bedroom in Arles. There are many things in this painting that would catch a viewer 's eye; the reason the painting caught my eye was because it was much more vibrant and colorful that all the other artworks I saw, that is why it attracted me. “Bedroom in Arles created” in 1888 by the word renowned artist Vincent Van Gogh was painted to represent himself, who he was as a person, and the life he lived. That is what Van Gogh is trying to convey to the viewer in this painting, he did this with the use of vibrant colors, the thick brushstrokes used, the many different and odd parts of this painting, and the texture of the items in the painting. Van Gogh’s use of color, and his bold color choices is what really attracted me to this painting, it stood out like a sore thumb from all the other paintings.

In this artwork, Van Gogh uses strong vertical lines to give the sense of unease. These lines are present in the floor boards, the chair and in the wall. The lines give an unnerving feel to the room as vertical lines suggest that the room was not a place of tranquility, or calmness, but a rather gives a sense of despair. Furthermore, In the room there is also horizontal lines to suggest peace, and calmness.
