21st century artist Carl Rice Embrey displays his amazing art skills through many beautiful pictures. In 1979 Embrey finished a unique acrylic painting titled Confederate Jasmine, which is now displayed at the Mcnay Art Museum. His unique lighting and content exhibited in this picture, immediately captures people's attention. At first glance, an observer may mistake this piece of work as a photograph because of its realistic style. All of the various items scattered throughout the room create mysterious, unknown content. Embrey's intricate painting allows one to observe many visual elements, where and how they were used, as well as the techniques and media implemented in his work.
Confederate Jasmine uses a number of visual elements. One of the first things observed in this picture is the color. Embrey uses many neutral, warm colors. These colors provide the on looker with a still, mysterious type of feeling. He also uses various biomorphic shapes, meaning he based the shapes on natural forms. Lastly, this painting demonstrates atmospheric perspective. Perspective through color change, value, and detail(48).
