For many centuries, technology has been developing and advancing. 150 years ago, phones didn’t exist. Now, cell phones that can also be used as computers are so small they can fit into pants’ pockets. When the Wright brothers first flew at Kitty Hawk in 1903, the world couldn’t imagine flying across the Atlantic, or even to Japan in fourteen hours. In the 1700s, and even in the early 1900s, wagons and horse-drawn carriages were used for transportation. The first positive impact on society is safety because this will help reduce the risks of getting into car accidents, which have caused millions of deaths worldwide over the past 100 years. The second positive outcome is a restful commute for passengers of driverless cars. The third positive impact on society is the fact that families will not have to rely on each other to drive them around. The final positive impact on society will be that stockholders of companies such as Uber, Lyft, Apple, and Google will earn extreme amounts of money and there will thousands of new tech related American jobs created. However, there are some negative impacts of driverless cars on society as well. The first negative impact on society will be the loss of jobs, which will hurt those at the lower-income level. The second negative impacts of driverless cars on society is the loss of jobs at companies such as gas stations and car washes because families will no longer need to buy two vehicles. The third negative impact is the possible hacking of driverless cars, which will make it unsafe for passengers for a variety of reasons. Therefore, as society moves forward with this technology, we must think about how it will positively and negatively impact our
