After the interview and the articles reviewed, I want to further my research related to food. The main question of my research is, “How do high school students (minority) deal with trying new food, like American Food, for the first time.” My personal goal of doing this research is that I want to know the personal stories of minority high school students from different nations and culture when they tried the American Food for the first time. My hypothesis is that most students will dislike American food when they try for the first time. I remembered when I try hamburger in the school lunch for the first, it was gross and tasted weird. By trying hamburger for the first time, I was not use to the taste of the sauce, bread, meat, and seasonal. Now, I like to eat hamburger, however, I only eat the hamburger that come with chicken. For this reason, I want to do this research. I will do both quantitative research and qualitative research. The quantitative research will be the survey that will hang out to high school students. The qualitative research will be the interview after the survey. The budget for my entire research is $20 dollars in total, which will come from my own pocket. I will use $10 in printing out the survey and the other $10 for buying a mix variety pack of chips.
For the research method, I will first contact Coach Cangas, who runs and supervise the Thrive Leadership Club. I will ask him if I can go to the Benson Thrive Leadership Club and distribute 40 surveys.
