Cell phones, microwaves, and even refrigerators are part of an average human’s daily life. These three items all use magnets. Magnets are used all the time in one’s normal day. The Earth itself is a magnet! (Blatt and Kendall). Magnets function through the North and South Pole. Each side has a positive and negative that either pushes or pulls depending on the charge it is reacting with. A North Pole (negative) repels another negative, but attracts a South Pole (positive). This is the same for a South Pole, so a positive would repel another positive, but attract a negative (How Do Magnets Work?).
