Do modern dictators use the same methods to rise to and maintain power as the pharaohs did in ancient Egypt?
Have you ever wondered what methods pharaohs use to gain power? Dictators gained power in very different ways when compared to the methods that pharaohs used. Although Kim Jong Un is usually thought of as the crazy dictator of North Korea, he actually has more than one side to him, he may act the way he does because he inherited power from his father. Which shows that dictators can inherited power, or gain a little bit power and then expand their power. An interesting dictator who took gained power by having some power first is Saddam Hussein, who took power from al-Bakr. After Hussein came to power, a list with the names of politicians that opposed Saddam were recited at a meeting that they were at. The politicians were taken to the court of law and trialled found responsible for treason, of the 68 politicians, 22 were executed. In early August 1979, many politicians that opposed Hussein were dead. Three months earlier, Saddam had become president. (www.biography.com)
This example shows that dictators obtain power differently than pharaohs. For one, pharaohs inherit power, while dictators take power, like in the evidence above this. This evidence shows that a dictator rise to power in a different way than pharaohs of ancient Egypt. In 1993, Khartoum was seized by the Sudanese military that was partnered with a Islamist group. Omar al Bashir was a leader of the Islamist group and gained power over the other leaders to become the dictator of Sudan.
