How Do The Witches Influence Macbeth's Actions

There were many factors in The Tragedy of Macbeth, that helped “motivate” Macbeth’s actions throughout the play, one of which being the characters and Macbeth himself. The witches, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth’s own ambitions inveigled Macbeth to take upon the actions he did during the play. From prophecies to manipulations, they all affected Macbeth’s actions. In The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, there were many factors that helped contribute to Macbeth’s actions. I believe that the witches, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth himself, all assisted in shaping Macbeth’s actions. Throughout the play, the witches are seen showing Macbeth prophecies of his future, all by which favored him. By the witches making Macbeth aware of these five prophecies, the witches drive Macbeth’s hungriness for power. In Act 1 Scene 3, the witches show Macbeth that he will be Thane of Cawdor. They also state that Macbeth along with Banquo’s children, will become kings. After learning from the witches that he someday will become king, Macbeth starts to take action upon it. Since there was already a king, Macbeth made up a plan to kill the king. After doing so, and becoming king himself, Macbeth hires murderers to go and kill Banquo so that his heirs won’t become kings. With her skills of persuasion, Lady Macbeth is able to convince Macbeth to kill Duncan. Throughout Act 1, Scene 7, Lady Macbeth “bullies” Macbeth. She criticizes Macbeth and compares him to a cat, who would not catch fish because it was scared of getting it’s paws wet. Lady Macbeth manipulates her husband by telling him that if he didnt kill Duncan that he wasn’t a man. With Lady Macbeth telling Macbeth all of these negative things, he finally agrees and constructs a plan alongside her, to kill Duncan. If Lady Macbeth wouldn’t of fully pressured him to kill Duncan, Macbeth probably would have coward out and not done
