Refugee Analysis
When all is lost and war breaks out, hope is found and it saves the day. Refugee, by Alan Gratz expresses hope in dark situations. This includes the 2011 Syrian War, and the 1994 Cuban Political Riot. The book Refugee explains hope by having faith in someone who can help them, and courage to fight anything that comes into their way.
To begin with, Refugee, by Alan Gratz shows hope by having faith in one another. For example, Isabel and her family trusted and had faith in their friend and got on their boat, even when, “The boat was heavy in Isabel’s arms”. Another example was when Muhammed trusted his father when taking him and his family out of the dreadful country that they had to currently live in during the Syrian War of 2011. The final example was when Joseph, originally from Germany, had to travel with his dad who is in the army to refuge in Cuba via the MS St. Louis ship. He had trusted his father and had faith in him and that’s why he got on that ship

This includes Muhammed’s situation when his dad stood up to a Crazy taxi driver in Romania. The driver wanted them to pay full price or their family would be killed. His dad had begged as much as he could but the taxi driver replied, “300 Euros'', but his dad had to beg him as much as possible in order to get a cheaper deal. Mohamoud’s father was literally at gunpoint, but he still didn’t care, he took whatever it took to transport his family to refuge in their soon to be home, Germany. He had to take so much dedication to his entire family in order for him to show his immense courage. Another example of courage is when Mouhamed was in a situation where Turkish smugglers wanted to take their money, and again, Mouhamed’s dad showed his immense courage when he personally confronted them that they let them go from holding him, and his family hostage, somewhere in the middle of
