Baba’s unforgivable sin; Baba had one sin that he told Amir that he would never forgive anyone for and that was stealing. Amir, by setting Hassan up just stole Baba’s right to the truth by lying. Amir also stole Baba’s ability to have a friendship with Ali because Ali and Hassan decided to leave the family for good. Amir set Hassan up so that Amir could try to forget about what he didn’t do for Hassan. Baba’s forgiveness is ironic because he actually forgave Hassan. Also, Baba wasn’t the one that decided for Ali and Hassan to leave, it was Ali. Ali knew Amir’s motif and he understood and for that reason Ali decided it was time for he and Hassan to go. As the car pulls away it was the last time Baba would see Ali and Hassan ever again. Baba didn’t grasp why they were gone forever. He just lost his brother forever. Amir also knew that if Baba found out he had planned this all out he would never forgive him. Amir never expected for Baba to forgive his servant. Family; Baba mentioned in the very beginning that when you kill a man, you steal a wife’s right to a husband. This line replays through Amir’s head unceasingly. If Hassan leaves and is out of his life he would be able move forward with his life. Amir realizes that he will never be able to forgive himself, but if he doesn’t have to see Ali and Hassan all the time he can forget, be able to breathe again, and move on with his life. Hassan now knows that Amir saw everything that happened so Hassan made the final sacrifice to Amir by telling Baba that he stole the watch and money so that he could help Amir could move forward.
