Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Essay During medieval times there were knights that were used to defend castles and their kings. The knights followed a strict code called chivalry. In Beowulf and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight both authors are unknown.Beowulf and Sir Gawain show these values of chivalry. Both Sir Gawain and Beowulf show Honor,Bravery and loyalty. In Beowulf and Sir Gawian and the green knight ,both of the main characters show honor. In the story of Sir Gawian and the green knight the main character has to choose between saving his own life and running away or upholding his knightly honor. In the story it says ”Look that you go,Sir Gawain as good as your word and seek till you find me as you've sworn in this hall to do” ( Sir Gawian and the green knight 179-181).Sir Gawain than a year later goes to fin the green knight to uphold his honor. Sir Gawain has to face a huge green knight.and even when he has to travel to the green knight to almost certainly die,Sir Gawain does not flinch when the ax falls.
