The dwarves discover something that they didn’t think would happen when they first started onto their adventure, they have relied on Bilbo more than once to get them out of a sticky situation. The dwarves, first heart broke when they hear that Gandalf was leaving them, didn’t think that Bilbo was a worthy burglar to bring onto the trip, believing that he had caused the trip to slow more than necessary. They then begin to realize and discover why Gandalf did leave them though, Gandalf knew that Bilbo would help the dwarves as the journey progressed and he gained more
Bilbo returns home with the portion that was bestowed on him from the dwarves but only a small amount because he does not know any use for these riches. “In the end he would only take two small chests, one filled with silver, and the other with gold, such as one strong pony could carry.” (337) When Bilbo finally reaches his home back in Bag End, he witnesses other hobbits auctioning off his possessions as he is presumed dead. (347) Bilbo’s family, the Bagginses, were a respectable family because the never left for an adventure. (4) Bilbo loses his respectable reputation as a Bagginses as he is labelled ‘queer’ among the other hobbits in the area for making the choice to leave his hobbithole for something unexpected.
They stayed in Mattru Jong until the rebels attacked. After running for hours and only stopping to rest, They tried to go back and gather resources, but almost died because of it. Because of the lack of food, Ishmael’s group returned to Mattru Jong and were caught. They were about to be killed, but government troops drew rebels away, so Ishmael and the other kids lined up with him could escape. After a few days of hiding, he found Junior and Talloi, and they decided to go somewhere away from the rebels.
Bilbo's life has changed a lot after just one night. One day he was just doing the normal thing and staying at his home, the next day he was pickpocketing a giant, later he was walking on a rock giant in a deadly storm, then he gets into a underground place with an unknown creature. Bilbo has really done something with his old house life. First, Bilbo has never done anything compared to pickpocketing a giant. The dwarves saw a light then told bilbo to go check it out.
After a horrid time fighting the spiders in Mirkwood, the dwarves are soon captured by the Wood-elves, but Bilbo utilizes the ring’s power to disappear. Bilbo, now hidden and lost, hides around the elven palace for 2 weeks until he finally decides that the dwarves needed his help and his alone. He finds out where the dwarves are being held after their apprehension, and much more about the palace's grounds as well as it’s exits and entrances. Bilbo creates and executes a plan by himself that saves his friends and shows his growth in character. Nearing the end of the tale is by far the most suspenseful chapters, in which Bilbo enters the Dragon's lair, once the dwarves home.
Additionally, Bilbo, the main character from the novel, is hired as a “thief” by a group of dwarves who are desperate to reclaim their homeland under the Lonely Mountain. The dragon Smaug stole it from the

They run Into the Goblins while making their way to the Dwarves kingdom. The Goblins cause havoc when they enter the mountains, they chase Bilbo and the Dwarves the group gets separated and that's how Bilbo initially meets Gollum. The great goblin is always chasing them he says in a song "Bones will be shattered, necks will be wrung! You'll be beaten and battered, from racks you'll be hung! You will die down here and never be found, down in the deep of Goblin Town!"

After an archer shot and killed Smaug in a battle, the news flow quickly around their country “that Smaug was dead!” (414). Tolkien, is about a hobbit (A small mythical creature with very large feet) who goes on an unexpected journey with Thorin Oakenshield, a wizard (Gandalf), and 12 dwarves (Fili, Kili, Balin, Dwalin, Oin, Gloin, Dori, Nori, Ori, Bifur, Bofur, and Bombur) excluding Thorin. This novel was written in third person limited, meaning that the narrator is telling the story only being able to see the thoughts of one character. Throughout the novel they are constantly being pressured and must push on no matter what. Bilbo Baggins (the hobbit) goes on this journey with Thorin Oakenshield to reclaim the lost kingdom of the dwarves, or the Kingdom Under the Mountain, the mountain itself is named the Lonely Mountain. The band of dwarves, Bilbo, and Gandalf travel there to reclaim their lost treasure because there is a whole spew of wealth guarded by a greedy dragon, Smaug.

The company faces many challenges while Gandalf aids them. Eventually, Bilbo becomes forced to take charge and lead the company to the mountain. The experiences Bilbo encounters throughout his journey define and shape him into the hero he becomes. The Hobbit follows the story of Bilbo by mirroring the heroic journey, showing Bilbo’s dramatic change from the Hobbit he once was.
Campbell, author of The Hero with a Thousand Faces, and Winkler believe after the hero’s departure, they are faced with a trial or many trails to overcome when they finally meet their biggest enemy, “The hero undergoes a series of trials often on a perilous journey.” (Campbell) Bilbo’s first trial is after Bilbo escapes from Gollum which he is reunited with the dwarves and are surrounded by Wargs but after it seems all hope is lost, eagles swoop down and save the adventures before it is too late. In Mirkwood, the dwarves and Bilbo are starving when they get captured by spiders, and Bilbo has to save them, “Bilbo saw that the moment had come when he must do something. ”(Tolkien 64) Bilbo escapes by himself and then finds the dwarves trapped and defenseless against a mob of spiders which Bilbo has to defeat by calling them names, and angering them until Bilbo has unraveled the dwarves.
The story then took off when Bilbo went to examine a fire that the dwarves saw in the distance. Bilbo saw three trolls around the fire with money purses around
He picks up the key to the troll 's secret cave, thereby providing himself with a sword from the safe inside the cave. In chapter five Bilbo finds the ring of invisibility and outsmarts Gollum while challenging each other with riddles. It is important to note that Bilbo resists the impulse to kill Gollum in chapter five because he thinks it would be unfair as Gollum is unarmed, while Bilbo is invisible and armed. Bilbo is depicted as not only clever, but ethical. This is reflected in the dwarves and Gandalf’s growing respect for him in chapter six.
