Even though this part of the hero’s journey was portrayed pretty similarly, there is still a bit of a difference. They both used their instincts, but Bilbo was influenced a bit by the dwarves. His Took side had shown while the dwarves were contemplating whether he was fit for the adventure or not. This made him want to prove himself to them. Instincts aren’t normally the cause of the call to adventure, but for some reason, these two very different novels are similar this way.

Along with the part when Bilbo went on a treasure hunt with complete strangers. When Bilbo did that he was on the Took side. This part was on the Took side because when he took that really big risk he could of been in huge danger because again he don’t know them like that. Bilbo would not of been on the Baggins side because as we already know the Baggins side is extremely boring and don't do nothing adventurous and fun.
Many times, Bilbo was caught missing from his home. He was missing his daily routine and his leisure time. He missed how much food he was able to eat and all of the sleep he was not getting. After Bilbo had gone on his adventure, he was a changed hobbit. At the beginning of the book, he is just a spoiled hobbit.
In The Hobbit by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, Bilbo Baggins the likeable and honorable burglar, a hobbit who seeks adventure. Being a decendant of a Baggins and a Took will soon take on an adventure of his very own. He will risk everything for peace, and will face many struggles. One of them being between his Baggins and Took identity. Mr.Baggins seems to get himself into alot of trouble on this adventure.
Bilbo intends to display courage this time. Just image an inexperienced small hobbit going into the darkness of the mountain to confront a dragon that had wiped out a whole civilization. Nevertheless, Bilbo shows his courage by going ahead, and his rationality by skillfully talking with the dragon Smaug, as to not make him angry. On page 221, Bilbo, despite being frightened and not wanting to, went ahead to meet the dragon. He even decides carefully what he would say to the dragon during his talk.
In this film, a party of dwarves is on a quest to salvage the wealth of their kin. Bilbo is a hobbit that is joining them on their journey of riches. He is the hero of the pack. He initially helped the dwarves by using his mystical ring to help fight the giant spiders: The dwarves went off the path they were supposed to be on.
The company faces many challenges while Gandalf aids them. Eventually, Bilbo becomes forced to take charge and lead the company to the mountain. The experiences Bilbo encounters throughout his journey define and shape him into the hero he becomes. The Hobbit follows the story of Bilbo by mirroring the heroic journey, showing Bilbo’s dramatic change from the Hobbit he once was.
Bilbo risks his own life to save the dwarves many times during the adventure, which in turn gains him the respect he deserves. This new respect that Bilbo has acquires gives him plenty of confidence in himself to get the job done, whatever it may be. This clearly shows that Bilbo's change from being ridiculed and doubted by the dwarves to being very highly respected is a dramatic one and deserves recognition. All Bilbo needed is a chance to prove the dwarves wrong, and that is what he gets when those same dwarves appear on his doorstep that sunny afternoon. Along with Bilbo Baggins becoming a braver and more respected hobbit, he also develops the most important change in the story; he changes from being incompetent to very resourceful.

Change is something that is hard for most people to accomplish. Change can mean going out of your comfort zone to fulfill something that has the delusion of being absolutely mental. Bilbo goes through a dramatic change in The Hobbit from being the unadventurous, dull hobbit to being the unshrinking, adventurous hero. He does this when he finds the ring, when he frees the dwarves from the giant spider’s webs, and when he helps the dwarves escape from the Wood Elves.
He picks up the key to the troll 's secret cave, thereby providing himself with a sword from the safe inside the cave. In chapter five Bilbo finds the ring of invisibility and outsmarts Gollum while challenging each other with riddles. It is important to note that Bilbo resists the impulse to kill Gollum in chapter five because he thinks it would be unfair as Gollum is unarmed, while Bilbo is invisible and armed. Bilbo is depicted as not only clever, but ethical. This is reflected in the dwarves and Gandalf’s growing respect for him in chapter six.
Along the way, they overcome many obstacles that threaten their lives and put their trust for one another to the test. Bilbo learns that there is more to him than he realizes and through hard work and dedication, he can accomplish almost anything. Overcoming these problems and learning more about himself helped Bilbo change from an ordinary, self-doubting hobbit into a clever, courage-filled, loyal hero. In the beginning, Bilbo has no desire to go on an adventure of any kind, but he quickly learns about the cleverness he obtains when he is forced to make quick decisions.
