Dick Cheney was President Bush’s Vice President. He held many strong views about the power that the president held. He had been working on his case since the Reagan Administration. Many people have thought of Dick Cheney as one of the most powerful Vice President in American history. I believe that Dick Cheney held more power than any other Vice President, as well as he truly enhanced the presidents power. Dick Cheney was the first Vice President that had elected himself. Bush came to Cheney when looking for a vice president. Cheney searched and then told Bush, he believed that he, himself would be the best for his vice president. Bush had accepted the offer, and Dick Cheney became Bush’s Vice President. He performed this on the statement that he would extend the powers of the President. Cheney did much in his power to extend the powers of the president, and made those powers on the fringe of legality. After being in Congress, as well as when he found Congress trying to limit the powers of the President, he found it was easier to get things accomplished without Congress. Within the day Dick had drafted up a plan to increase security through monitoring of U.S. citizens. He had done the same exact thing that another president had done, and the plan from previous was thrown out by the Supreme Court.
