Stories are fundamental to the way we process and experience life events and the feelings that surround them. Courage, a trait of good character that makes us worthy of respect. Irony, the event in which the opposite of the intended outcome happens. Hypocrisy, the act of pretending to be righteous when you are not. In the book of Esther each of these traits are shown through the events of the story. Courage is shown various times throughout the book of Esther, and is expressed in different actions. For example when Mordecai chose not to bow down to Haman even when the king ordered all the servants at the royal gate to kneel and bow down to him. Mordecai acted as such because he did not want to place the honor of a mortal before God, which could have cost him his life. Furthermore Esther presents courage when she decides to see the king even when it is against the law, she states “Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.” (Esther 4:16). Esther went to the king even though it meant breaking the law and she did so understanding that she may die. …show more content…

Later in Esther Haman tries to get Mordecai killed by having him impaled on a stake. This however leads to Haman’s death. The irony is that Haman was killed on the stake that he intended for Mordecai to be impaled
