Over 5% of the world’s population have is deaf, which is about 360 million people have hearing loss. Meaning that 32 million of these people are in fact children who are born without hearing. Hearing aids is a tool that doesn’t make those people have hearing but it helps them have some sort of hearing. It makes sounds louder so they are able to understand what's going on around them. It helps them in any noisy or quiet situations they may be in but only one in five will find use with hearing aids. Dr. Miller Reese Hutchinson he was known as a very great scientists and inventor in his time. In 1890, he wanted to help out his deaf and mute friend so he decided to invent the Akoulophon. One way it has impacted them is that people with hearing aids their social life has changed. They interact with others and they are more likely to do activities with others than the people who don’t have one. Another way is that their self esteem rises due to the fact they are looked at in a different way. Even though they are deaf they can hear more than normal and they can understand and comprehend more. They start to interact with different types of people to where they make more friends who accept them. It also gives them a better self-image not just to themselves but to other people and their families as well. In their personal life they get less negativity and get better relationships with their families and friends. Another way is that their families see them to have better cognitive usage and tend to be more social than people who don’t have hearing aid they tend to be more antisocial at times. There are many ways that a hearing aid has impacted their lives.The Deaf Community feels that using the hearing aid and other devices that people are trying to ‘fix’ them. They feel as if they should be ashamed of being deaf and that they need to use a hearing device. Deaf people and the Deaf community use these devices but more than likely they stick to being them. They don’t like going to the audiologist because they don’t have a sense of awareness of who they really are. I think the future looks like for the deaf community is that they will stop using hearing aids. I think this because they don’t like hearing aids and that they will just stick to being deaf and using sign language.
