The focus of the dark and suspenseful story,Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte, is Heathcliff and his different manners and attitudes. It begins with John Lockwood renting a property. Then finds out that there is a ghost which is named Catherine and was Heathcliff’s lover. Lockwood then learns all of Heathcliff’s past by someone named Nelly Dean who heard if from someone else. But Lockwood doesn’t just learn about Heathcliff he then also learns about the people at Thrushcross Grange and Wuthering Heights. This all shows Heathcliff's colors and what he’s been through and what he has become. Heathcliff suffers from PTSD, Bipolar, and Narcissistic. Also the author Emily Bronte’s past reflexes on the characters in this story.

Heathcliff seems to be suffering from Bipolar Disorder. His disorder tends to display being vacant throughout the story. Ongoing sad, worried, or empty mood are symptoms and signs of being very empty(Peacock, 25). When he was sick Nelly described him as “he was the quietest child that ever nurse watched over. The difference between him and the others forced me to be less partial: Cathy and her brother harassed me terribly: he was as uncomplaining as a lamb, through hardness, not gentleness, made him give little trouble(Bronte, 27). Some people who are bipolar some of them can be very quiet. Since Heathcliff reflexes being a quiet child and that he was little trouble just shows he was very empty. Emily did suffer a traumatic event when she was young. The death of her mother at a early life (Encyclopedia of World Biography). This changed her family's life when her mother passed away. That kind of event can put a big toll of someone for a long time. Another is that she did show some of anxiety.Just like in the story when Hindley’s and Catherine’s mom died in the beginning of the book goes along with herself when she was young. She suffered a breakdown after 3 months of schooling (Encyclopedia of World Biography). Anxiety is apart of PTSD and is very rough on someone. This can cause them to break down a lot and hurt them. Just like Catherine when she was mad and Edgar and Heathcliff she just kept breaking down every time she argued with them. Last would be another traumatic event was then to bring her family back together. Later on her aunt died and she had to move back home forever (Encyclopedia of World Biography). Just towards the end of the book when Catherine died it brought everyone together back the Wuthering Heights. Like it brought little Cathy in the world and brought Linton, Heathcliff's unknown son to him.
