Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte introduced us to the lives of HeathCliff, Edgar, Isabella, and Catherine, as well as many more characters.Heathcliff was a powerful king, who gained his control through over powering others. We learn he had a son named Linton which he never met because, his wife left him when she was pregnant and only found out due to her death. Heathcliff had so much hatred towards Isabella and believed that Linton looked to much like the mothers side of family. He considered him weak and unworthy as his son. However because he also did not like Edgar, Isabella brother, he brought Lincoln to live with him. After having some time there and meeting his father, Linton didn't want to stay because Heathcliff was extremely mean to him and treated him as is property. In which Heathcliff made a statement to Nelly " I feared I should have to come down and fetch my property myself", which proves how Heathcliff view Linton. Linton was not viewed as his son to Heathcliff, but merely an object to control.

Secondly, I do not think Linton was able to leave or had a choice because Heathcliff treated him bad and forbid him to leave because Linton was heir to everything including Thrushcross Grage. Heathcliff was scared of losing everything so he even try to marry Linton off and get him to sign over the property to him. Another proof on how he only view Linton as a pawn in his game of having control over everything.

Linton was so bent on staying and only would stay with his father because he was to scared to try to escape and it fall though he couldn't imagine the repercussion he would face from his father if he couldn't escape, because he seen his self as weak. Linton had no self esteem because he was never raise as a strong male and did not have the influence of how to stand up for himself.
