Adultery is the the act of having sexual relations with someone while in a monogamous relationship marriage. Hester Prynne has committed adultery. As a result, she has brought an illegitimate child into the world, that child’s name is pearl. Despite the child being born from a sinful act, she is something beautiful much like a pearl from a clam. Hester’s beloved daughter should not be taken from her because, they share a close bond that only a mother and child could have. With this in mind, Hester has many reasons for wanting to keep pearl. Pearl is her daughter even if she was born from sin. Moreover pearl should not be taken from Hester because, pearl is Hester’s sole reason For living. People often pass Hester on the street and mock her just because of what she had Done. People would often hold sermons just because Hester had walked by. Hester would go Crazy without pearl, she is her last bit of happiness. On top of that pearl is just another form of Hester’s scarlet letter which reminds her of what she has done. Without pearl Hester, could care less about her life she would have Nothing to live for. She even considered joining the witches and giving her soul to Satan.
