It is fair to say we have grown use to Donald Trump outrageous and absurd statements on a variety of issues. Though in one of his speeches he stated, “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.” This statement rattled up viewers and bring up the question does illegal immigration increase crime rates. In my opinion illegal immigration does not increase crime rates. According to Trump he claims that Mexico are sending people who do drugs. Before we start pointing fingers let’s address the fact that Mexicans are not the only people crossing the border. According to the U.S. Border control approximately 257,000 non-Mexicans were in 2014, compared to about 229,000 Mexicans. These non-Mexicans are comprised of people from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala where crimes are substantially high. This holds true for both legal immigrants and the undocumented, regardless of their country of origin or level of education.
This evidence demonstrates that illegal immigration has no correlation to the increase crime rates in the United States. It actually does the opposite where illegal immigration decreases the crime rates as shown in the graph
