What is the first thing you think about when you hear the word identity? Is it your name? Or your long brown hair? Or is it even the stylish outfits you wear everyday? Identity is who you are, the way you think about yourself, and the way you are viewed by the world and the characteristics that define you. But, how do people you do not even know know these things about you, when quite frankly you do not even know yourself? Now, what is the first thing you think about when you hear the word information? This also leads me to my big question. How does information shape identity? It is not something you think about on a regular day-to-day basis, but it is something you should take a moment to think about. Information is a powerful thing. It is not something you can just play around with. It is something that can make or break your identity and it is something that people use to make assumptions and form opinions on you. Therefore, you have to be very careful with what information you choose to put out and even how you put the information out there. Because once it is out it is out and you cannot take it back. It is crazy to think about but it is the truth. With this being said information shapes identity because it is what we look at when trying to figure someone, or something out by allowing us to learn about those who are not all here for them to tell and for us to observe us how they really are or what they were really like.
