The song All of Me by John Legend in the studio album Love in the Future. Through the use of literal and figurative language, the singer is able to communicate the message that love is precious. The song is meaningful to me because it reminds me of my beautiful mom.I chose it because it reminded me somewhat of my life. Another reason i chose it was because it was catchy. All of Me is mainly about how he wants to get back together with his girlfriend. That is evident throughout the whole song.

For instance, the artist uses the hyperbole, “Your crazy and i’m out of my mind” It is a hyperbole because you can't be out of your mind (if you were out of your mind you would be dead). Another example is imagery, John Legend made us picture a perfect, beautiful woman. In the song the girl seems insecure about how she looks and he is always trying to make her feel good , an example of that is “ Love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections” and “Even when you’re crying you’re beautiful too”. A third literary device used in the song is oxymoron. Often, John Legend will combine opposite words to get his points across. In the chorus he says “All your perfect imperfections” and those are two opposite words complementing each other. The fourth literary device used in the song is metaphor. John Legend uses quite a few metaphors in his song. One metaphor he uses is in the pre-chorus when he says "My head's underwater, but I'm breathing fine." This is a metaphor because he's comparing being underwater and being able to breathe which are two very unlike things, since if he was really under water he obviously wouldn't be able to
