Hi I’m Chanel and the question I am going to be answering is how and in what ways does language help or hinder our acquisition of knowledge.
Before looking at the effect of language on the acquisition of knowledge, i 'll unpack the term “language” as a way of knowing. Language is a tool for people to communicate and it helps us to express feelings and transmit knowledge. There are different forms of language, and every single language all have both advantages and disadvantages. For instance, spoken language is more direct than written language and that body language is more universal and can be understood by most of the people. Today, I’ll specifically be focusing on spoken language, body language, written language, and visual language.

My cousin’s one year old daughter used to live in my house for a few months because her mom and dad needed to work outside of Taiwan. Although baby cries, this little girl literally cries 24 hours. And as time goes on, i noticed that her crying has a pattern. For instance, When she started crying at a slow pace, then it builds in volume and becomes loud, it usually means that she is hungry. When she cried in a mild way, it usually means that she is in her fussy time and that there is no need to go up to her because time will past and she will stop eventually. These examples demonstrate that language assists our acquisition of knowledge because emotions govern tones, and that by listening to different tones, people can have an understanding of others needs. For instance, when we are hyper, we tend to speak in a higher pitch than usual. Additionally, lower pitches can convey authority. Without tones and pitches, individuals would talk like robots and that emotion cannot be conveyed effectively. In other words, through these, individuals are able to identify the person’s emotion
