Of Mice and Men is a story about two friends about two friends named George and Lennie. They travel to new farms across California to find work. This novel is written in a time during the Great Depression. The first man is faced with many hard tasks while he hast to watch for his forgetting and hardworking companion. These two companions have a big dream but will be faced with great difficulty and it will challenge them. In the beginning, critics can say Lennie would get lost without George. Others can say in defense Lennie can remember a few things. Later on, critics can say George’s feelings for Lennie are changing. Therefore, Lennie would get lost without George. People could say this is accurate because, while Lennie and George are by the river Lennie asks George “Where we goin, George?” (Steinbeck 4). George gets very upset and angry at Lennie because, George has told Lennie time after time again where they are going. After George stops yelling he tells Lennie where they are going. After telling Lennie where they are going, Lennie states “I forgot” (Steinbeck 4), George responds with “You always forget” (Steinbeck 4).
