Imagine society without the lightbulb. The rays of energy produced by this bulb of wires and glass are necessities and staples in many people's lives. This small glass ball is often forgotten because it can be easily accessed by a flick of a switch, but the lightbulb is an invention that has changed society. This amazing source of light has enabled us all to become more productive and reduced dangers that could take many lives. While the lightbulb is an older invention, it still benefits us today by increasing production in the early mornings and late evenings. Many people work dark evening shifts that would not be possible without the lightbulb's radiant energy taking the place of the Sun. Transportation needed to increase productive hours, such as a commute to a job, would be much more hazardous than it is now because of the lack of headlights and streetlights. Dangers such as the spreading of fires caused by unattended flames have diminished, and damage to the lungs as a result of smoke has significantly decreased with the elimination of fires. The health of all of society has been improved by the lightbulb's flameless energy and smokeless byproducts. Whether you are working a late-night shift, driving on the highway, or even flipping a switch, the lightbulb has proven itself to be beneficial us all.
