Together, advances in mathematics and science enhance society; likewise, but on a much smaller scale, individuals undergo a plethora of changes. These changes are not unlimited because humans develop physically, as well as cognitavely. To exemplify the statement, a young boy matures as he nears adulthood; thus, he endures a variety of changes, which may include moral reconcilliation. Like the young boy, Nick Carraway undergoes moral reconcilliation in the popular novel, The Great Gatsby.
Nick seems not to be oblivious to his sadness, although he lacks knowledge about the cause of the emotion, for he admits that dinner alone at the Yale Club is, “for some reason [,]…the gloomiest event of [his] day” (62).
