In George Orwell's Animal Farm, Old Major, a prize-winning white boar, summons all the animals at Manor Farm to the stable to make a speech. In his speech he wanted to convey a message to the other animals, explaining the cruelty of humanity, how they really are, based on his twelve-year experience. Proposing to make a Rebellion to confront humans for so much evil that they have done to animals. In his speech he uses rhetoric, Ethos and Pathos. He is known to use Ethos, as his speech is based on his years of experience, which he had on the farm.
With knowledge and education comes great power that can be extremely dangerous if it falls into the wrong hands of those who are self-serving. How does Orwelll display this in Animal Farm? Firstly, Jones was the animal's leader for as long as they could remember. It showed that he would abuse his privileges of leading the animals and he would starve them. Finally the animals decided they have had enough of Mr. Jones' abuse.
The last significant illustration of a mockingbird is the black man Tom Robinson. Tom is a quiet and reserved person. Mayella calls Tom over as he is walking by because she is feeling lonely and desperately needs someone to converse with.
