Social media has been around for a decade now and its evolving every day, could that be for better or for worse that’s up to the world and everyday citizen to figure out. Social media has been used in many different ways towards Law Enforcement and other government officials. IT has also been used in the case of natural disaster inn order to inform the people n where others will be to help while social media has not been proven to be linked with any attacks on a Law Enforcement Officers, social media when used in the wrong way can hurt Law Enforcement but, it can be useful to Law enforcement in cases of tragedy.
Social media has been used to organize riots against Law Enforcement. Such as when in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In Baton Rouge social media was used to organize and promote the riots and protests against police. During that protest portrayed as a peaceful one by social media thirty protesters were arrested. “Baton Rouge police have seized seven guns and arrested thirty protesters at an ongoing protest alongside police headquarters.” Those seven guns consisted of three rifles, three shotguns, and two pistols. Which can cause a unrest or riot because of beliefs. With the rise of social media, there has been a change to what society would call normal thoughts and behaviors, with one being an increase in the disclosure of personal information such as location thoughts feelings and habits. Social media has a lot of vulnerabilities such as who can post or say things. They could change what is the society's normal and make people focus on one certain part of some topic or event such as police shootings only showing the wrongdoings and most of the time they are not. Social media combining with emerging technologies could make it way more effective and cause it to be way more
