The death penalty should be illegal in all of America due to its harsh and cruel punishments. The death penalty contains a large amount of flaws and its system of punishment. It is majorly cost-effective, raise too many questions, does not help stop the amount of crime, is not really necessary, and it negatively affects our economy. America spends billions of dollars on the death penalty itself. America does not see how it negatively affects our economy. The death penalty price will only increase throughout the years due to the longer processes being created. The death penalty plays a major part of the economy. Since the death penalty negatively affects the economy, questions are asked to help citizen understand. Some questions include, what are the statistics of the death penalty, Where does the money to pay for it come from, and what are some of the negative ways that it impacts the economy. The statistics of people who are given the death penalty give and understanding on how much it costs for a group or an individual. In 2005, the Supreme Court in Roper v. Simmons struck down the death penalty for juveniles. 22 defendants had been executed for crimes committed as juveniles since 1976.
