There are many changes ballet and opera throughout all of music history. There are also many different composers that have performed both opera and ballets. I’m going to be talking about how ballet has changed throughout music history. Ballet originally originated in Italy in the fifteen hundreds, but then worked its way to France. The word ballet sounds like a French word, but it is not French King Louis the fourteenth had a ballet school and he created the ballet called ballet de la nuit. It was a long ballet it lasted fourteen hours long and he used it for political propaganda. The plot of this play included mythological goddesses such as Venus and Diana, werewolves, demonic creatures and witches who celebrated a black Sabbath in the horrors of the night. Russians did not really like opening the door for new things because they didn’t know what it would be like. Peter the Great started the westernization program and a lot of Italian composers went to Russia to compose. Russian ballet then went back to France because Sergei Diaghilev thought that it would be a good market to create new stage work and dance companies. Sergei Diaghilev worked with Stravinsky and them two came together and created three ballets with him. One of their ballets were Firebird. This ballet had traditional ballet pointy shoes and it was more effortless and then they made another. It was called Ride of Spring, this ballet got a little to primitive, it was about sacrificing a person for the whole village. This ballet was more of an African dance, and they didn’t use the traditional pointy ballet shoes. After they started to perform it, it did not turn out well. It ended up causing a big riot when it happened and people that attended started to leave during the performance and then there were those people that stayed because they loved it since it was different but new to
