An implicit nationalist in that he held the good of the Canadian people above other countries, Douglas was predominantly anti-liberal as he believed that public ownership was the next evolution of democracy, replacing a system where the “major economic decisions affecting the lives of ordinary people are not made by…the government of this country.” ’ (Aivalis) While he has now passed away his track records in both the national and provincial

To start with, Pearson is undoubtedly a symbol of Canadian excellence, seeing as his efforts and impact were exceptional. At that time, the world was undergoing war, crisis and prejudice so it is impressive that Pearson was “one of the 20th century’s most untiring and effective workers in the cause of world peace.” (Baldwin 39). For a long time the debates had been going about how was the better prime minister of Canada. On the the top of most lists of best prime ministers are Mackenzie King and Sir John A. Macdonald. For example, according to the Expert Survey that was made in 2013 “Laurier came first, Macdonald second, and King third, but the difference in their overall scores was negligible”. Both prime ministers had a strong vision of the country that helped shaped Canada to become the country it is today(in 2015). Thesis: Sir John A.Macdonald was one of the founding fathers, but William Lyon Mackenzie King had to lead the country through the part of Depression and WWII, and they both have made different positive contributions to Canada and are highly respected

The novel describes real life situations that could very possibly happened in that time period. If this story would have been nonfiction it most likely been a biography about Elijah. Another reason on why I think this is historical fiction is because when I picked this novel we could only pick a historical fiction novel.

Elijah is convinced that teaching without technology is the best way to teach kids. No matter how many times his co-workers tries show him facts that says otherwise, he refuses to believe it. This belief perseverance is stopping his class from learning the way other classes do.
Over the course of the American history, black people were oppressed and treated unfairly. A few ways that society treated black people is by segregating them from white people, beating them up, and taking advantage of them. These factors contributed towards the way society viewed African Americans, flawed, uneducated, and poor. Yet, a notable person who overcame these obstacles and made the most out of his experiences was Malcolm X. He made a dramatic change not only in American history but in African American rights.
