Feminism has changed in the past couple of centuries, beginning in 1848 with the first organized Women’s Conference. Although many feminists talk about important subjects and fight for the right things, it seems a nonspecific radical portion of the feminist camp, has turned to more of man hating. This includes discrimination or stereotypes being pushed onto men.
The original idea of feminism, and what it represents is correct in almost every single way, but the way it has evolved in modern times is flawed and a portion of feminists could be theoretically be seen as part of a hate group. The movement has changed from wanting equal rights, to a more of a protective shell if you will. Feminism has now made a point to protect and secure a woman’s safety and rights to an extreme point of the spectrum. Speaking out against men for reasons which are not applicable to every single man is profane. Gender, and the term ‘Woman’ is oppressive itself, and the end to feminism should not be gender equality, but the end to gender itself. Some feminists have this belief that all men are rapists, and that women are better without men. Although women do not need a man to live a well-off life, but the idea that women are better off without men is flawed, the way for everyone on Earth to move forward in every single way and to improve the lives of everyone living here is to move forward together and not segregate one gender from the other. Segregating oneself from the other gender just adds to the discrimination and hurts everyone in the process. Feminism has turned from a way for us to move forward together, to a way of thinking we are better off without the other gender. Being feminine is also supposedly shameful and stupid. Many feminists nowadays are against women as well as men. This can lead feminism down a dangerous path and a possible future of becoming a hate group if not already. Being a woman is very honorable and being a woman if anything should be praised and not demonized. Although women are most assuredly discriminated against more than men, that does not negate the need for equality for men. When saying this, what needs to be done is there needs to be a focus on women, but that does not mean start abusing or treating men horribly. Feminism itself is needed, and should be welcomed under the belief that it is just for equal rights. The term feminism was first said in english in the 1890’s. The term came from the french word ‘feminisme’ which came from Charles Fourier, a utopian socialist, driven to have equal rights for all women and men. In the 1960’s, bra burning became a reality with women burning and throwing their bras in the ‘Freedom Trash Can’. This is where the term bra burning came from.
