Elsy Ramirez Dr. Yarber English B1A Monday 6-9pm 11 September 2017 The Stranger in the Woods Thought Essay In the novel The Stranger in the Woods by Michael Finkel, there is a man named Christopher Knight who is described to be shy. He has left his house in Massachusetts and drove to Maine to willingly go into the woods with practically nothing. In order to survive, he had to steal what he needed from others for shelter and food. I believe that he was selfish, tired of society, and overall a bit crazy. I believe that Christopher Knight was selfish because he took stuff that was not his without carrying if it was important to the people he was waking it from or if they needed it. For example, in the beginning, chapters he took a watch that did not belong to him and he was selfish because he already had one but he wanted that one. He did not care if it was important to the man in which he stole from but he wanted it. Not only did he take materialistic things but he also took things to survive like food. Yes taking food is selfish because it was not his but yet again he needed it to survive after all he was there for about three decades. Stealing food does not make him a bad guy …show more content…

Not only that the front cover of the book describes him as shy, so that also means that he can be an introvert. Someone that does not like to socialize, talk to people, or be around people. He could have just wanted an escape from the chaos of the city life and it could have been too much for him so he went to the most peaceful place he knew which are the woods. I do not believe that he is a bad person for this although I do believe that he is a bad person for not letting any of his loved ones know that he was going to go into the woods, but yet again he was tired of the city and its chaos and he did not want to be found so no I do not believe this makes him an all-around bad
