“Romeo and Juliet”, by William Shakespeare is one of the most beautiful and tragic stories. Throughout the play Shakespeare used light and dark imagery to enhances the plot in Romeo and Juliet. Light is used to describe Juliet’s beauty, light imagery represents anger and hatred. Darkness represents their doomed love. Light imagery is used to describe Juliet’s beauty. In the story Romeo says “O she doth teach the torches to burn bright”. This quote shows that Romeo see her as an celestial being, rather than an ordinary person. Romeo also states,”For here lies Juliet, and her beauty makes this vault a feasting presence full of light”. This quote emphasizes how beautiful Juliet is because no one could actually lights up when they're dead(or alive), this makes her seem to be very extraordinary compare to other beauty’s. Overall all these light imagery in the story makes the readers think that probably no one could resist her stunning beauty. …show more content…

They fight.” Sunday morning was the light imagery used in this scene, it shows that the sun enrages the the young men of the Capulets and Montagues to fight. Another example of how light imagery represents anger and hatred would be “Tuesday morning: Friar Lawrence’s cell…Juliet: O shut the door, and thou hast done so, come weep with me, past hope, past cure, past help.” This scene shows how frustrated Juliet was that she was forced to marry Paris. This probably happened because of the Tuesday morning sun that made her felt even more stress and mad. The sun enraging people relates to real life to because when people are in a hot environment they are easier to get mad or frustrated. Shakespeare uses of light imagery is very creative because whenever he states that it's mourning it foreshadows that someone is going to get
