Our world and Shakespeare's world are really different from each other. In his time color showed how rich you were, controlling sickness was hard, and being fat and wearing lots of clothes was bragging. That is completely opposite of our world today and just shows how different times are for us now. But what exactly has changed? First, color showed how rich you were. The color purple showed that you were really rich. It could be seen being worn on the queen and other high level rich people. These days the color of your clothes doesn't really mean anything to how rich you are. It's more about what the type or style is of the clothes or what it's made of in this world. I don't think anyone today thinks being fat is a way of showing off. A lot of people go to gyms and other places to get this body that they've been wanting. We also aren't the biggest fans of layering clothes like they were. I'd say it's more like we want to wear just what is needed only. Back in the Shakespeare world being fat showed that you were wealthy enough to eat a big meal every day. When you had a lot of clothes on that was a way of showing how wealthy you were. You can tell his times were all about what people thought of them which is a lot like our times. As it says in "Shakespeare a History Written by Victors", "He was not interested in Historical accuracy; he was interested in swiftly moving action and in people." So now as you can see some parts of Shakespeare's world was the same as ours but also a lot of it was different.
