The automobile has played a very concise role in human history. It has helped us with transportation over larger distances and allows people to live farther away and commute to work instead of living close by. It didn’t inherently start in the United States, but it most definitely did take off the fastest in the United States. Cars have played a huge role particularly in american history, and it also impacted how we do automation as well as improving everyone’s lives. To understand what is so important, however, starting at the very beginning must be in order.
Moving into the 20th century Henry Ford from Detroit became an iconic individual that represented the auto industry. Due to the creation of the automobile it was Ford that was recognized as changing the view of American. Rather than allowing Americans to be labeled as the rick of the poor it was Ford who created the middle class that would open the section of Americans to not only be viewed as rich or poor.[6] While Ford was a young boy he was deeply influenced by the steam engine, which was a source of power for individuals to get around rather than depending on trains. Chevrolet is a big part of the automobile industry. You can’t drive down the block without seeing a Chevrolet car or truck. In 1911, William Durant formed what was originally called the Chevrolet Motor Company. Durant was the founder of General Motors, but he had been forced out of the company in 1910 because he was financially overextended and banking interests assumed control, forcing him from management of GM. Using an important partnership with racecar driver Louis Chevrolet, Durant used the Chevrolet Motor Company to eventually resume a leading role in General Motors.

Manufacturers in the automobile industry, would make small changes to every year’s model. These changes would persuade consumers to buy the new model and that they needed to update their cars every couple of years and ultimately expanded purchasing growth in the 50’s society.
The automobile as we know it today was first constructed in the late 1800s. This revolutionary idea coincided with the Industrial Revolution, which was at its peak during this time. A heightened demand for manufactured goods meant that new, faster ways of transportation needed to be developed in order to transfer these goods to consumers. With the development of new manufacturing industries, the automobile was an invention that proved to be immensely successful in progressing America’s economy during the industrial revolution. The automobile brought about new ways of traveling, types of employment, and success in America’s economic strength while sculpting one of the world’s most influential economies.
What would the automobile industry be like today if Henry Ford’s influence was not present during the 1900s? He always had a distinct ardor for all things machines, at the young age of 16, Ford actually went against his father’s wishes and left his family farm to become an apprentice in a machine shop located in Detroit where he got a lot of his inspiration from. Later on at the age of 19, he started working a part-time job at the Westinghouse Engine Company. Henry Ford used his passion for machines to come up with brilliant ideas and concepts that sparked change all over the world.
Automobiles have impacted the world’s growing and evolving society. The invention of Ford automobiles lead to the improvement of the industry since that was where the assembly line was created. By improving industries of America through assembly lines, production cost was reduced, products were made faster, and more jobs were created. Automobiles have also improved the way Americans communicate because it has reduced travel time and expenses. Since both travel and industry has been improved, America has been able to win wars and grow to the country it is today Although automobiles have improved in the last century as the cars have become faster and more complex, it has resulted in more deaths.
General Motors is a well-renowned automotive company, which manufactured popular American brand cars such as, Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC. The automotive assembly plant originated in 1892 by R.E. Olds. He converted his father’s old naval and industrial engine factory into the Olds Motor Vehicle Company, which, in 1895 started creating the famous car models, Oldsmobile. It was a four-seater with a Petrol engine that produced five horsepower and topped out at 18 mph. After founding the first Detroit automobile factory, Olds’ first models he produced were high end luxury cars, which sold for $1,200 and then sold his second model cars for $650.
Automobiles were affordable and were designed carefully. The majority of these cars were produced by the Ford Motor Company, led by Henry Ford, who designed a different model each year to satisfy the insatiable crowd. Many of the automotive innovations that we think of as being modern—like electric powered cars, four wheel drive, front wheel drive, hybrid fuel and electric cars—were introduced during the 1920s. The automobiles had various different colors in order to get the attention of people, especially woman, and through time, they evolved to become more comfortable to drive for men (Scott ,1). The automobiles were beneficial to the U.S because they expanded the area of habitat.
“Henry Ford 's low-priced, assembly line–produced Model T, which had been introduced in 1908, had been copied by other automobile manufacturers, and suddenly the automobile became affordable to millions of families” (Automobile, 2015, p.1). People were now receiving higher wages and making more money, which allowed them to purchase more of their wants. A substantial amount of people was buying cars which boosted the economy. The car industry also provided more jobs to people as well as working with the rubber and steel companies. Socially, cars allowed people to travel instantly to wherever they wanted whenever they wanted.
The Rise of the Automobile in 1920s in The Great Gatsby Perhaps no invention affected American everyday life in the 20th century more than the automobile. The invention and improvement of the automobile not only changed the America society, but also the whole world. The rapidly growing automobile industry led by Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Company produced new and better models every year to supply the insatiable public demand. Increased wages and lower cost vehicles made possible through mass production meant that cars became increasingly affordable, although 3 out of 4 cars were bought on installment plans.

Safety Becomes More Important: Safety plays a major role in the automobile industry with vehicle manufacturers constantly making improvements to avoid and lessen damage from collision. Automobile industry is also trying to improve braking systems, stability and lighting. They are also concentrating on environmental safety.
