Being in English 101 has impacted three different types of writing processes: drafting, revising, and editing. Before I started this class, I never made drafts; I only did pre-writes and the final copy of the essay. Now, I do the pre-writes, then type it and make the draft, and then fix any errors in it. Another writing process that has improved is revising because now instead of reading what I wrote myself, I let my friends, classmates, and teachers read it to see if they understand what I’m writing and if they see any errors. This makes my editing process easier because I know what mistakes I made.
I’ve become more confident in my writing. More willing to express myself. Grades aren’t important to me but good grades are necessary. Any cheater could get good grades but it’s more about the mystery of the skill and if you actually learned and understood.
How have I improved as a writer? I am thinking about my action plan as a writer have I improved, have I met the goals I set out to achieve on my first day of class, and what have I learned in this class? I will go over my time in this class and review the various topics I mentioned above and more. Looking back over my time in this class I will critique and praise myself. How I felt about writing when I first started this class compared to how I feel now, I would have to say I am more comfortable with writing.
In my writing at first I with many part of sentence structure and grammar. Trying to not mess up in structure I was unable convey my ideas. Over the course of the semester it has became easier by every essay. My improvement was some not severely, but learning the basic again will help me for all class and other English courses. Writing again was something I slowly was becoming accustomed again as before.
The prompt for this essay is quite simple: write about how your involvement in sports, community service, leadership, academics, and other extracurricular activities have affected your overall character. However, I feel as though this essay would be better if focused on my career in lacrosse and how it’s changed my life over the past five years, helping me throughout the good and bad, the simple and the challenging. Lacrosse has been a part of my life for about five years now. I started playing when I was in fourth grade, simply because I wanted to branch out and try something new, exciting, and a little bit out of my comfort zone.
My history as a writer has been a bit of a struggle of slow development. From a young age I had a hard time with spelling and this is still a trouble area for me, even with the help of autocorrect. As I grew in age and as a writer my problematic area became not including enough nitty gritty details. My bad experiences that I recall would always involve the start of writing because I struggle with beginning paragraphs. Also, I tend to use the ending paragraph to just repeat myself, so overall my first and last paragraphs are usually shit.
Skills such as proper grammar and MLA format still need some adjustment. Even though I have things to improve, I was still able to improve some areas of my writing skills regardless even if it was a small improvement. In the beginning, like
During my elementary years, I don’t recall being interested in reading, but I do remember the first time I fell in love with it. I was in my 7th-grade reading class. I just completed a quiz when my teacher realized that I had nothing to do after. She offered me a book that I will remember for the rest of my life because it is the book that basically started my reading journey. It was called Tears of a Tiger by Sharon Draper, I loved the book so much that I read the whole entire series.
Towards becoming a writer -------------------------------- I promised myself that I will learn a new skill this year. I resolve to learn how to write with purpose.
Music has always been a part of my life. In definition, it is “vocal or instrumental sounds combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.” Ever since I was a young child, I have loved music. The strong, steady beats, the entrancing melodies, and the lyrics that vary between heartwarming and heart-wrenching have always had an unexplainable effect on my life. Music seems to have the ability to change certain aspects of my world.
There are other areas in my writing that I have improved on. I have improved on my grammar, verb constructions, use of verb tenses and organizational skills to make my writing flow better when reading. My overall progress in completing this ten weeks course was wonderful. Every steps and skills I learned in this English class will help me to improve on my writing skills in my other classes and will also help me in my future
How my Cat has Changed my Life I remember the day that I got my cat. My family has many cats. But this one is mine. This cat chose me, over everyone else.
Significant events can be life-changing. The experiences we have had can change our whole being. These experiences can be either memories that haunt us to no end or memories that we treasure for the rest of our life. These memories are the hands that mold us into the works of art that we are today. I have encountered many obstacles that have gauged my sobriety.
Most people can pinpoint a crucial moment in their life that changed their outlook on life. Sometimes that one moment is a single decision that nobody would have thought could change their life so greatly. For some people, instead of just one choice, it is a chain of decisions that lead to the moment. Some people do not have control over the decision to cause the moment no matter how much they want it. Life changing events almost always mark the beginning of a new era in someone’s life.
There are many incidents one met in life that change the whole concept of living. Similarly I had an incident which not only change my vision towards life but also to the words you speak and how much they hurt someone enough that you then regret of saying them. It was a very dull morning for me.
