Snapchat was created in 2011, and after it was created, it gained popularity quickly over the years. The app Picaboo Messages was used before Snapchat in 2010. But when Snapchat was made, it quickly took over. In the 2010s, the most used texting app was Snapchat because it grew more than other apps. A lot of teens are almost always on social media apps. It helped show that teens need to talk verbally more, rather than just texting through their phones. It also helped social media apps get more people to like their apps because a lot more teens are on them. While teens are texting their friends, all they can do is wait for them to respond. When teens want to talk to their friends over text, their friends may not respond right away, and because of that they are just left there waiting. “I’m staring at my ceiling overwhelmed with a feeling I know you’ll text me tomorrow and I'll respond we’ll talk far too long” (MJAD 1). This shows that all teens do is wait for their friends to respond after they text them. If they were in person, their friend would most likely respond right away. It also may get teens frustrated because they are not responding to them right away. Especially if it's important or an emergency, and if they don’t respond quickly when those types of events happen, it would not be good if they don't see it because that person is doing something else.
