The era of 1976-2000 was significant to America. It was significant to America because of rap music, America's 200th birthday, and the release of three big hit game consoles. The first thing that was significant to America was rap music. Rap music is people talking quicker than normal to a music beat. There were three big game consoles introduced in the era of 1976-2000: Nintendo, Sega, and Sony Playstation. The first video game ever was "Brown Box." In 1967, game consoles were not that popular until Nintendo came out with the Color TV game. A problem with the game was that it could only have one title. Then Nintendo came out with the Entertainment system which was one of their biggest hits and gamers could play as many different titles as they wanted. After the Entertainment system, Nintendo introduced the Super Nintendo which had better graphics than any other Nintendo game and also had a new controller. The final and the best Nintendo game of the era 1976-2000 was the Nintendo 64. The Nintendo 64 had 3D graphics, the modern joystick, and was the first controller to have four controller parts. But Nintendo wasn't the only game system being made in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Sega was in the run with them. Sega first came out with the SG 1000 and then the Sega Master system. These were not very big hits but the next one, Sega Genesis, was an enormous hit. Nintendo and Sega fought for the best game consoles in the 70's, 80's, and part of the 90's until Sony changed gaming forever with the Playstation. The Sony Playstation was first intended to be the Super disc, a shared product between Nintendo and Sony, but Nintendo and Sony parted ways and Sony came out with the Playstation in 1995. The Playstation was the first 3D game system to come out in America. The Playstation had the most powerful technology anyone had ever seen and that is why Sony Playstation was the best game console in the era 1976-2000.
