How the Truth Will Set You Free: If You Dare to Read
First, let me introduce the author; Mr. Rodney Stark, a Social Science Professor at Baylor University, that is well versed to tell the story of Western Civilization, he wrote other books on the subject matter, as well. Mr. Rodney Stark the Author of : How the West Won; The Neglected Story of Triumph of Modernity and has a commitment to truth, with a willingness to go out on a limb for truthful historical data that may be “barbaric” to some of today’s society, but in fact, writing truth is what he does for the true history. Stark’s title: “How the West Won, The Neglected Story of Triumph of Modernity”, could have easily changed it to, How the West Won, Like it or Not; Explaining the Truth One Culture at a Time. The boldness of Mr. stark is superb, leaving no rock unturned; going into the New World. By addressing issues how the New World inappropriately commandeered the European ways of slavery, by way of human trafficking the slaves from Africa, (Stark points out that even the African tribal leaders and some tribes capturing of other tribes were in it for the profit as well). Furthermore, Mr. Stark points out no one listened to the nudges of Pope Eugene the IV, not to have slavery in the new world. In light of history, it is best not to have political correctness, not agreeing that it was right to do, but that Mr. Stark wrote it for the historical value, in addition to how it fits into the Western Civilization genre. When reading on the “American Miracle” I would have challenged Mr. Stark to reflect back to the Greeks, when they emerged with their inventions, economic development, and related them together; the two eras resembled each other as far as Democracy, literacy, and freedom, both cultures were free to do as they wish. Thus, promotes free thinking and limit pushing to out-do the others. The city states were unique for the Greeks, which in turn, helped with the “Greek Miracle”, however, to my belief; the utmost beneficial ties to the miracle were the freedom within the democracy and the ownership of property in the city states. After pondering Mr. Stark’s historical data about the “American Miracle” I would agree in part that Mr. Stark’s belief that it was largely due to the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution, perhaps catapulted America to a place where democracy, inventors, religious freedom, and ownership thrived. The “American Miracle” thrived conceivably, that people believed in something bigger than
