Scouting is one of the many activities that involve in many outdoors and life skills. People who want to become a scout have to make a commitment in being involved and participate in troop activities. But others think that scouts is just another thing that is not pertinent to do and getting badges for nothing. But that's not the problem! Over the last couple of years the scouting membership has decline by 14% and we want to know what are the reasons.
During the last couple of years councils in certain districts have looked over the membership and 14% of cub scouts have left scouting. This prevents from having future scouts and there is one reason we still are debating weather to allow people of homosexuality. Many parents are uncomfortable that we are allowing these type of people and is to believe because of their religion they take their kids out of scouting.

Because of this it is hard to rank up and that is one reason why only 2% of scouts can earn the highest rank of eagle. Because the rank of life requires you to be active in your troop for six months meaning coming to every meeting. More people get stuck at this rank and are very close to their eagle they just quit, or some are too late because when a scout becomes 18 they are no longer considered a Scout.
I and many others feel different why the membership in scouting is depleting and why it's not at its pinnacle. But some scouts can be lazy and have no interest. Others are even forced to do scouting and to me if you want to do something do it but being forced to do something you don't like will be hard for that person. Some even think it just involves outdoor camping and think its obsolete but the scouts have activities today that involve in the modern world today. And all scouting involves is commitment and effort and scouting will be fun for that
