Persuading people who are against you or even hate you is a very difficult task, but is not impossible. As of right now we are living in a very hostile country due to the selected president. So we need to find ways to persuade people in our favor. To help find out how to look for ways to persuade people in our favor, let's look at an example, “Martin Luther King Jr” when he writes his “Letter From Birmingham City Jail” in response to the Clergymen. Martin Luther King's message was to tell the Clergymen that he was doing no wrong in his protests. Martin Luther King Jr illustrates the things they have gone through to be able to get into that point. For example, “In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps: 1) collection of the facts to determine whether injustices are alive; 2 ) negotiation; 3) self-purification; 4) direct action. Martin luther King's says, “ But when you have seen vicious mobs lynch your mothers and fathers at will and drown your sisters and brothers at whim ;” This will give many a picture of what it will be like to have something precious taken away from them. Another example, is when King says, “ When you are humiliated day in and by nagging signs reading “white” men and “colored” when your first name becomes “nigger” and your middle name becomes “boy”. This will make them realise the struggle that african americans have to go through on a daily basis, and make the opposing group realise that they were the ones of fault since they want to disband something that will change america for the better.
