The Vietnam War
Background
The communist regime of North Vietnam and its southern allies, known as the Viet Cong. The North Vietnamese government and the Viet Cong were fighting to reunify Vietnam as a communist nation. As a colonial war and a continuation the First Indochina war against forces from France and then the United States. The Vietnam War began in 1954 the war was fought between the North and was supported by the Soviet Union and other communist allies. The war started because the communism seemed to be playing more and more as the time goes. The Domino Theory, if one of the countries fell under the communist or under control its neighboring countries would follow them in the domino effect.

And estimated 2.2 million soldiers were drafted into the war. This later caused major controversy because many people were against the war so they didn’t want to participate in it. The media was a major factor as well since they showed all the bad things that were going on in this war and why they should completely withdraw from it. Another major issue was the credibility gap. This was something that the people believed that president Johnson was lying about. They speculated that he was lying about the actual progress of the US in the Vietnam War. The Vietnam war had several wars, but the top 4 which were the major ones were the battle of Ap Bac. This was the first battle in the Vietnam war on January 2 of 1963, which was fought by the ARNV or also known as the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, and also by the National Front From The Liberation Of South Vietnam. Another major battles were the Battle of la Drang ( November, 14-18 1965), Battle of Khe Sanh ( January 21- april 9 1968), and lastly, while soldiers and everyone were still focused of the Battle Of Khe Sanh, the battle of Tet offensive was going to happen as a surprise by the Viet Cong and north
