Juan Dominguez-Toribio Cunningham 2nd period 3/8/18 Code Name Verity Essay In the book Code Name Verity its talks about how two girls are stuck in France because of their plane crash on of the girls which is Queenie got captured by the Gestapo and is being tortured for information from the Britain Intelligence, but she is secretly getting information from the Gestapo with her knowledge from being an interrogator. The other girl which is Maddie survived the plane crash and is using the new identity of Kathe to secretly get information for her country. The author communicates that people do not die in vain but for a purpose through the use of characterization, conflict and allusion. The reason for characterization is because it expresses if one has feelings or they have a good relationship between each other. The time when Maddie had to decide whether to let Queenie jump from the plane or have her just land with her in the crash but Maddie had faith in her to land with the parachute. That just shows how much Maddie cares for Queenie. The time when Queenie was being shown the body by the Gestapo of the plane crash to make it think it was Maddie but it only someone random but Queenie was crying because she thought it was Maddie's body in the plane that just shows that they have a good relationship with each other. …show more content…
The conflict for Maddie is that she survived the plane crash and now is using the identity of Kathe and has been staying with Queenie's grandma on which Maddie has no idea. Queenie tries to solve her problems by not just dealing with them and not giving them answers and she is interrogating them, but they do not know because she is good because that was her job back home. Maddie on the side is not having much trouble because she is using an identity and people will not know her real identity, but she is also trying to help get back Queenie and destroy the Gestapo
