The short story How to Talk to Girls at Parties does not help you talk to girls. Written by Neil Gaiman, this short story is a very interesting story nonetheless. In this story, we have two main characters. Vic and Enn. Vic and Enn are invited to a house party. Once they show up, they realize that they are at the wrong party. Enn(the uncomfortable one) meets several girls, one of them named Wain’s Wain. She has eleven fingers and keeps talking about going home. The characterization in the short story How to Talk to Girls at Parties is the most important part of the story because they provide the story with interesting details that make the story amusing. In the story, Enn is talking to ‘Gap Toothed Girl’. She is talking about her journeys, and none of them make any sense. She states, “‘The last tour, we went to sun, and we swam in sunfire pools with the whales. We heard their histories and we shivered in the chill of the outer places, then we swam deepward where the heat churned and comforted us.’”(Gaiman) This comes from who the author has taken to calling ‘Gap toothed girl,’ She is as weird a Wain’s Wain, which leads me to believe this is a party for extraterrestrial life. So far, both of the girls Enn has talked too had similar eyes and discussed some very interesting topics. This leads me back to my thesis because this story gets all of its entertainment from the
