Primarily, Victor Frankenstein’s home life had a formative influence in his early life since it molded him into who he became as an adult. Victor was born into a very wealthy and distinguished family, who did not let their social status and wealth define who they were in society. His family remained generous and noble. By being the affectionate people they were, Victor’s parents raised him as their plaything which left him with a large amount of confidence, and the belief that greatness is part of his destiny. This makes Victor unusually determined and ambitious (his ambition becomes great and he crosses the boundary of mankind and experimenting).
Once noted, the parallels between Frankenstein’s fears and desires and the reality the monster experiences are many. Now that Victor is in university, he no longer has family and friends to fall back upon in the unknown territory of his university. Frankenstein voices is that “[he] believed [himself] totally unfitted for the company of strangers,” irrational as it may be, and believes himself solely dependent on his family and childhood friend for companionship. Without the love guaranteed to him by his family, Victor believes he is unfit to make companions by himself and destined to a life of loneliness. He places much importance on the fact that his father and Elizabeth love him and are concerned with his well-being.
In Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein is a scientist who brings a conglomeration of human and animal parts back from the dead. Despite his logical act of destroying the monster’s bride, Frankenstein still imprints hate, and hunts down his monster, making him the villain of his own story. The first clumsy act of villainy Frankenstein commits is when he first creates the monster. This horrid creature, made of human and animal parts, is born without intelligence, but more importantly is born with the ability to learn.
Frankenstein is all about a “mad scientist” obsessed with the sciences of the world. The scientist, Victor Frankenstein, wanted to bring life to non-living things. He wanted to “play God” you could say. Doing so, he robbed graves and cemeteries to round up many different body parts to create a living creature. A person.
The ideal definition of family is about accepting and being supportive, loving, and trusting to one another. In the novel Frankenstein, there was various symbolism, metaphors as well as similes towards the theme of family. Victor’s solitary nature counterbalance, his ability to apprehend the significances of family. Because of his flaws, he ends up inflicting harm to everyone around him as well as repeating his mistakes from his father to his child, the creature. When Victor’s mother Caroline dies she abandons Victor.
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is the story of a young man named Victor Frankenstein who does the unthinkable, creates life from dead flesh. Victor is a young, educated and wealthy member of society who grows up in a loving home with high standards of ethics and morality. He creates a creature out of impulse with little thought of its future well-being and abandons it carelessly. The creature is left to discover life without teaching or direction. Only when the creature impacts Victor’s life, by taking away his loved ones, is Victor forced to deal with the consequences of his own actions.
To be away from loved ones is to deprive oneself of a basic human necessity. In the book Frankenstein, it can be seen that family is very important in Victor’s life. He had a wife, children and parents living close to him. He looked upon them for happiness and treasured them always. On the other hand, he had a strong and passionate interest for the sciences and philosophy.

How far is someone willing to go to feel a sense of belonging? Some people search their whole lives in hopes of one day finding such a rare thing as true companionship; whether it be a lover or just a friend. Yet, how far an individual is willing to pursue this longing for love is entirely unpredictable. As humans, naturally, we yearn for interaction with other humans. In Mary Shelley’s Monster’s case, his unfortunate appearance only deepens the resentment of others towards him.

As seen in Frankenstein, family plays a key element in the development of each character. Victor Frankenstein was nourished by his family from crib to grave and they served as a support system for him. In contrast, The Creature was abandoned from the day he was created. It was the lack of family that drove the creature to seek revenge on his creator, Victor Frankenstein.

In 1818 Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein, a novel that follows Victor Frankenstein, an ambitious man on his journey to defy the natural sciences. In Volume I of the novel, Victor discusses his childhood, mentioning how wonderful and amazing it was because of how his family sheltered him from the bad in the world. “The innocent and helpless creature bestowed on them by heaven, whom to bring up to good, and whose future lot it was in their hands to direct to happiness or misery, according as they fulfilled their duties towards me” (35). When Victor brings up his childhood, he suggests that parents play a strong in how their kids turn out, either "to happiness or misery" (35). In particular the main character was sheltered as a child to achieve this “happiness” leading to Victor never developing a coping mechanism to the evil in the world.
