No matter how smart, or what time period or family anyone on this Earth has ever came from, it is safe to say everyone has made mistakes at some point in their life. In the novel of Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein was science student that set out on a completely unorthodoxed scientific experiment to recreate life from pieces of the dead. How far is someone willing to go to feel a sense of belonging? Some people search their whole lives in hopes of one day finding such a rare thing as true companionship; whether it be a lover or just a friend. Yet, how far an individual is willing to pursue this longing for love is entirely unpredictable. As humans, naturally, we yearn for interaction with other humans. In Mary Shelley’s Monster’s case, his unfortunate appearance only deepens the resentment of others towards him.
The contemporary interpretation of Prometheus. The Frankenstein novel contains a character that resembles Prometheus in the aspect of being a tragic hero, he’s called Victor. Victor is the tragic hero of the novel because many tragic elements are seen in his character. Elements like exceeded punishment, reversal of fortune, downfall, and a tragic flaw His reversal of fortune happened when the Creature killed his younger brother.
Consequently, Victor creates a monster that later ruins his life and the lives of those around him in the story mostly due to his poor variety of decisions. These facts proves that Victor’s downfall is most likely caused by his failure of balancing his ego by allowing his Id and superego get to him. In the novel
Abandonment is something that is wrong and shouldn’t be done, but in the right circumstance, it's the best thing to do. In the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Victor creates a monster and after realizing its physical appearance, decides to abandon the creation. In my opinion, Victor was right in abandoning the monster because it was a danger, lacked love, and used blackmail. To begin, the monster was beginning to develop dangerous behavior and became a threat to others. Victor stated, “Now that I finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror filled my heart” (Shelley 45).
Regardless whether they succeeded in helping humanity or not, both Prometheus and Frankenstein were soon punished for their actions. Prometheus, like God, cared for his creations and provided them fire to make their existence better. His actions anger Zeus and lead to his protracted physical punishment. Victor creates his monster out of selfishness, then views his creation as “catastrophe”, and like Satan in Paradise Lost, his creation brings him pain rather the pleasure (Shelley 35). His feels no sense of responsibility nor does he feel sympathy in his heart towards the “wretch” he created, only “disgust” and he quits the room, abandoning the monster (Shelley 36).
He uses the little that he knows to fuel his hatred towards humans and his creator. This shows the exponential growth of the problems that Victor has created as a result of his desire for knowledge. Not only did he create the destructive monster, but now the monster is using a hunger for knowledge, the very thing that created it, to do even more damage. This root cause is linked to everything that is causing Victor’s suffering. The monster also compares his relationship to Victor to that of God and Adam, wishing that he had the same supplication to his creator that Adam did, “I remembered Adam’s supplication to his creator.
Nobody denies that Victor has been harboring an obvious hatred toward the creation since the very beginning of its’ short life. He curses and abandons this new being that has absolutely no moral compass whatsoever; he should have expected that the creation would do something without fully understanding the moral wrongness of his actions. Mary Shelley brought the emotions forward from the main characters by the amount of detail she put into the book. Because Victor turns a blind eye to the creation, he vows revenge against him and all the people Victor loves. Even though the man receives little guidance and support, he becomes a monster similar to Victor because of his choices to do evil: murder and take revenge. Critic Magill explains, “His revenge, although excessive, is motivated” (322). The creation could have the decency to move on with his life, but one factor prevents him. His appearance restrains him from having a normal life despite the capacity for love and affection he harbors in his heart.

In Mary Shelley's book Frankenstein Dr. Frankenstein is more of a monster than the literal monster he has created. He spent all of his time in his laboratory trying to create something that he would not be able to take care of, without even thinking of the consequences. He was not aware what he is doing is hurtful to others. A lot of Victors’ problems stem from his early childhood and what appears to me to be mental illness. My theory is that he might have been schizophrenic and the monster coming to get him was his own paranoia and in fact, there was no real monster.
