The Texans won their independence from Mexico in 1836. Texas tried to apply for statehood but was vetoed by the US government due to the fact that Texas was a slave state. After that, the debate over Texas’s border with Mexico began and innocent Americans were killed over the dilemma. This started a war between the United states and Mexico over the border with Texas. But, was the United States justified in going to war with Mexico? Yes, the war with Mexico was justified because Mexicans attacked us on our territory and we tried to negotiate, to move away from violence, but they refused.
