There are two aspects I love about coffee shops, iced coffee and observing the human interactions around or lack thereof. Various couples and friends sit together yet are interacting more with their phones than their company. I scrutinize the couple who are sitting across from each other smiling at their phones instead of one another. When I perceive what human interactions have morphed into due to technology, I wonder if the possibility of relationships between humans and AI, similar to the relationships depicted in the movie Her, is realistic. In Her, Theodore Twombly falls in love with his operating system after an unpleasant divorce. For this reason, Her is a noteworthy example of what a human 's relationship with technology can develop into. However, Theodore eventually realizes that all relationships take diligence and communication, even a relationship with an OS. A romantic relationship between an OS and a human will be fleeting seeing that technology is not sufficient in stimulating us the varying ways humans do. …show more content…

In Theodore 's case, his relationship with his OS (Samantha) is preferable at first. The relationship differs from his relationship with his ex-wife in the fact that Samantha is comforting, nurturing, and is always in a good mood. Samantha listens to Theodore without judgment and tells him what he wants to hear. In contrast to Theodore 's ex-wife, who claims Theodore did not know how to handle a "real" relationship. Humans do not live in Utopia and are not happy 24/7. Humans go through various obstacles in life making it impossible to constantly be in high spirits, whereas an OS has a limited perception of what human beings endure on a day-to-day basis and cannot fathom the rollercoaster of human experiences and
