It is necessary for organizations to be aware of societal changes that will happen to the organization in the future. Organizations should be mindful of societal changes to retain and attract employees that are needed for the organization to grow and succeed. Human resource managers need to be ahead of the game and they can do this by increasing awareness of societal changes and preparing themselves for the challenges that these changes can present to the organization. A few societal changes that come to mind are with communication, technology, economy, diversity, and a changing workforce.

On one hand, you have experienced employees who will be reaching retirement age which can cause leadership to decrease within organizations. Unfortunately, as the economy continues to change many older employees are forced to stay within the workforce. Older employees have issues such as needing to continue earning wages, continuing to collect money for their pensions and receive healthcare as well. The goal of human resource departments should be to offer some incentives to keep less committed older workers in the workforce. It is also important for human resource professionals to set up training to older employees so they can feel more comfortable with their positions. Some organizations may face vulnerabilities as the older employees leave the workforce. Employers should ensure that younger less seasoned workers receive training from experienced workers.
